The past couple of weeks I’ve been working on a logo for a furniture boutique. This has been a fun project for many reasons. The first is that this shop is my neighbor! So, of course it’s fun to work on a project that directly affects my community. Secondly, I love furniture and vintage things and other creative people. The woman who runs Paint in my Hair is a talented, creative lady. She blogs, puts on classes, refurbishes furniture, travels to craft shows, runs a business, has a family…you get the idea. She’s pretty inspiring and definitely a go-getter if I ever saw one. Her shop sells vintage decor, redone furniture, and they sell a special paint imported from the UK that is perfect for repainting your own furniture. You can only get this special paint at Paint in my Hair boutique. Needless to say, it’s been a really fun project for me.

The logo we ended up with is pretty classic/vintage. I’ll post that one at a later date when I finish some other stuff I’m designing along with it. For now I wanted to share the alternate logos that I kind of fell in love with. They were a little too stylistically out-of-the-box, but I think they are really fun and have a lot of personality. They are both completely hand done and probably would deserve some more tweaking if I was going to finish them. But you get the idea! The one below is my favorite.

Following the logo/branding process I’ll also be designing a new website for the boutique. It will be fun to get to apply the new look to their online presence as well.

  1. Yay, I wondered if you ever got this job or not. A friend of mine asked if I or someone I know would be interested in designing the website for Paint in My Hair and I referred her to you! And I also suggested defining their brand a bit more before launching a new site. I’m SO glad you’re building a brand for them. It will make a world of a difference. Can’t wait to see the final product.
