I was excited to see Beirut’s new album up on NPR: First Listen today, so I thought I would try my second installment of First Draw! The album is called The Rip Tide and it is undoubtedly lovely. I really enjoyed my first listen of the album and this is what came out of my fingers. Lots of imagery I was hearing in the lyrics…which are beautiful and sad. Zach Condon’s voice has always had the sound of restrained passion to me. The smoothness of his tone feels so calm but I always feel some kind of beastly tornado behind it that he never really lets out.
